Photofit: Self-Portraits
April 1st, 2008
Photofit, invented by Jacques Penry, was used by Scotland Yard in 1970 to make suspect portraits. “The kits come in wooden boxes, containing narrow paper strips with various facial features and an index listing the contents: eyes, noses, mouths, haircuts, chins, roughly 40 in each category. There are transparencies for add-ons, such as glasses, facial hairs or wrinkles, and a frame on which the individual parts can be assembled.” Giles Revell, Matt Willey & Philip Oltermann invited a number of people to assemble their own Photofit self-portrait. The result is this brilliant project. See the full project here.

August 19th, 2007
For the fist time Zaha Hadid is having a full scale exhibition of her work in London. I’m planning to make a trip down there this week, last admission is at 5.15. Have a look at the Design Museum page on it, or read all about it on the Zaha Blog. It runs until November 25th.

Linkology
July 20th, 2007
Check out this data-based illustration by Ben Fry, commissioned for The New York Magazine. ‘It shows the connections between the top 50 blogs, based on data provided by Technorati. The colors depict the categorization: orange for technology, blue for politics, pink for gossip, and green for “other”.
The intensity of the line is based on the direction of the link, so the lines are brightest at the link destinations. Because lower-ranked blogs are more likely to link to a higher ranked blog than vice-versa, the lefthand side of the image (the top ranked blogs) is brightest.’

It may have been around since last year but we love this mono A1 poster from ImageNow; part of last years 1 Exhibition. The poster shows the rounds and punches thrown during Ali and Foremans infamous ‘Rumble in the Jungle’.

This is great, the Zune looks so bad, so who would steal one? Now you can hide your iPod in one!
